Scenic Sunday - BWCA

Miti over at Pieces of Me hosts Scenic Sunday each week and while I usually have to dig in my archives for a photo, I enjoy the process of searching and reliving the trips PapaBear and I used to take before we had kids. This week is a rare photo taken on aafter our children were born - our trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. I left my good camera at home, but was thrilled to see how well my little point and shoot captured the water droplets on this leaf I found at the end of the portage trail.

Scenic Sunday - Landscape Arboretum

My tulips are just starting to come up but we are thankful that they are at least starting to make their appearance. These beautiful purple flowers (and many others) grow at the nearby landscape arboretum - and were the inspiration for a header I had for a little while last year....
These pictures remind me of the newness of our life here in the park - the promise of new and exciting things ahead. Our grass is turning greener by the minute and the new camping season is almost upon us. No matter how busy life gets, there is always time to stop and smell the roses tulips.

Scenic Sunday - Costa Rica

It's Sunday! A day for worship, a day for sleeping in, a day for family, a day for reflection, a day for leftovers, a day for prayer, a day for naps, a day for reading, and the day I post a picture of God's beautiful creation.

Scenic Sunday was created by Michelle over at Pieces of Me. Here is her description of what Scenic Sundays are all about:

See why I participate? So often life travels in warp speed and this meme reminds me to stop and smell those roses. It also reminds me of my travels, you know, before we had kids, before we had a backyard that is a tourist destination...

I'm going with the water theme again and again it's a picture of a picture (hence the reflective bits in there).

I wish I could tell you exactly where I was in Costa Rica, but we moved around a lot in the 10 days I was there so I'm not sure of the town. What I do know is that the bus couldn't get to our hostel so we had to walk a mile. The howler monkeys were LOUD so waking up early to take this picture of the sun coming up and the tide coming in was a piece of cake.

I'm auto publishing this so it's ready to go for Sunday morning, but will add my name to the Mr. Linky during naps. Hope to see you there too. :)

Scenic Sunday - Patagonia

This is my second week participating in Miti's Scenic Sunday. Last week I shared a scenic picture a little closer to home than the one I chose for this week. (It's a picture of a picture so I did use Photoshop to clear it up a little but, but the colors are very true to life. It does blow up bigger if you click on the image.) Almost 12 years ago (Man, I still can't believe it's been that long!), I had the privilege of traveling around much of Latin America during a 12 week foreign term my college is well known for. In the middle of the term we were given 10 free days to travel wherever we wanted.

My friends and I chose to attend a ballet in Buenos Aires, visit Iguazu Falls, attempt to located a friend in the Peace Corpe who was stationed in Puaraguay, and travel further south along the Patagonian Atlantic. Our goal was to go whale watching, but along the way we also saw some of the most beautiful scenery ever. Can you see the elephant seals on the edge of the water? Scenic Sunday

The world got a whole lot bigger thanks to the I Heart Faces. I got so many nice comments and met some new faces because of my top ten finish. One of those faces is Miti. She is hosting Scenic Sunday in an effort to help us remember to stop and enjoy the beauty of God's creation.


















I immediately thought of my Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness pictures from the Fall of '08. Our camping season has been extended by a week so we won't be able to go north this year. The third week in October was late enough last year, there's no way I'm going to camp when the high (if we're lucky) is going to be 30 degrees. If we do get any sort of vacation this year, it will be warm, close, and involve a bed - not a Thermarest thankyouverymuch.
