It was cool enough to wear jeans!!!

This wasn't really the highlight of the weekend, but it was close. :) I am so ready for summer to be over and to enjoy the cool, crisp days of fall. After our open house yesterday (zero visitors) we took the kids to a nearby town for their annual festivities. Julia had the best expressions all afternoon. I wish I'd gotten a picture of her with the ducks since that has become her new favorite word. I'm so grateful the d's come out nice and clear!

Sam fed the goats, didn't want anything to do with the cow or the sheep, and would have taken a cat home with him if we would have let him.

As we went from activity to activity Brian shared stories of the years he attended this very same event. The petting zoo is on the grounds of the church he grew up in so his family has a lot of history there.

Three little monkeys (Isaac, Kieran, and Sam) jumped until they dropped.

Food perked them right up!

and then Sam wasn't afraid of the dragon anymore and decided to do some climbing. Kids these days sure have fun stuff to do!

We ended the night by watching a helicopter take off.

Technically we ended the night with a major battle with Sam over getting pajamas on. Since it was jeans weather, it meant he couldn't sleep in only a diaper without getting cold in the middle of the night. We were both extremely frustrated by the end. For the record he slept in a t-shirt and a sleep sack. He put up quite a fight. Not fun for anyone involved.

What a great collection of photos! Thanks so much for sharing some so I could add them to my post, as well. And for the head's up about the fair. Didn't know Brian grew up in that church. We did end up going up there after we parted ways with you. They had quite a set-up up there! Great animal shots, too.
