School's out for Summer
I think Sam captured the essence of what Alice Cooper was referring to in this song, don't you?
This is what we'll miss doing on Monday mornings with Miss Anita:
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Watch me hammering.
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. I try to pound them straight.
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Don't want to make mistakes.
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. You know it feels so good, to make things out of wood.
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. (Sung to the tune of the Hammer Song, but whenever I try to sing it without the music it ends up sounding like the Jeopardy theme song.)
The Bang Bang song always follows...Julia's here today. Julia's here today. Julia came to school today. Julia's here today. Yeeeeaaaahhhhh!!!! JULIA!!! (and Arden and Even and Anthony and Joren and Ellie and Frank and Cameron)
We always ended circle time with the parachute. As the oldest in the class, Julia could have easily spent another 15 minutes singing and doing finger plays. I caught her making one up all by herself today: Looks an awful lot like she's twiddling her thumbs.
Julia has been going to ECFE classes since she was six days old (in a sling during Sam's class). She took her first class with Grant last summer when they were eight months old. Sam was 18 months old before I discovered ECFE. Today was the end of an era for us. I have learned so much from the wonderful teachers and from the other moms in both classes this year. It was so sad to say goodbye this morning. Thank goodness for playgroups!
