You may want to see if you can still get your hands on a REBEL XT (the model just before the XTI). It goes for about $500-$600 these days and there isn't a huge difference between the XT and the XTI. It's my backup camera when I shoot weddings. It rocks. Also look into getting a 50mm 1.8 lens. The best $80 you will spend. Good luck! :)
