All the way from Alaska

Brian's brother had a layover in Minneapolis on Sunday so we welcomed him home for his 3 hour visit with a picnic at Fort Snelling State Park. Our friends, Kitty, Jane, Tony, Adam, Tommy, Maddie, Karen, and Aaron helped make it a memorable time. There were stories of childhood games played at the Hanson's home and the tree that Gary knocked over, chuckles over the stories that make the news in Valdez, Alaska, and my favorite - the tale Gary told about the wolf he encountered one day while out walking with his dog. The part that grabbed my attention had to do with him saying he should have known better than to go out without his gun. I guess that's Alaska for ya! It seems like a completely different world - and from the stories Gary tells, it is! Being so far away from home means he hadn't had the opportunity to meet Julia until now. She was hesitant at first, but it was Sam who refused to come near him for the first 10 minutes. He eventually warmed up to "Uncle Dary" and kept waving to him as every plane flew over us.

Great job Carrie!
I love the pictures of Sam and Julia. I could spend all day reading our little stories-especially ones that feature me!
What a great story about a great day..

Thanks,

Gary
